The central part of Florida
certainly has a lot to recommend it, including of course the
Disneyland complex. Any time of year is a great time to visit
Disney of course, but May can be particularly great time to
visit the happiest place on earth.
That is because in May the school kids are not yet off for the
summer, and the big vacation push has not yet begun. This can
mean a much less crowded complex of parks, and much shorter
lines for all those great rides.
While many people think that Disneyland is located in Orlando,
it is actually the nearby city of Kissimmee that is home to the
parks that make up the Disney complex. Attractions like Epcot
Center and the newly opened Disney Animal Kingdom add to the
charm of this classic vacation destination, and no trip to
Central Florida would be complete without at least one visit to
Disney.
Of course location is an important part of vacation planning,
and when it comes to enjoying a great Disney vacation it is
important to choose a centrally located resort. There are some
great resorts in the Kissimmee area, and they can provide a much
better value than comparable hotel properties.
In addition to the many attractions that call Kissimmee home,
central Florida of course is also home to the many attractions
of the Orlando area. Orlando has become synonymous with a
Florida vacation, and the Orlando area certainly has plenty to
see and do.
For those who love thrills there is of course Universal Studios
Islands of Adventure, a top of the line theme parks featuring
heart stopping roller coasters and enough thrill rides to keep
even the most adventurous vacationer entertained for days.
In addition the classic Universal Studios theme park welcomes
movie lovers of all ages with some great rides based on classic
movies of the past and present. The attractions at both
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are constantly being
updated in an effort to attract new and repeat visitors, so
there is always something new to see and do.
For those whose tastes run to the offbeat, Orlando is also home
to the world famous Gatorland. For those who do not know,
Florida is home to plenty of alligators, although few of these
beasts make their way to the areas frequented by tourists. This
abundance of gators, however, has given rise to Gatorland, one
of the most unique attractions in the central Florida region.
This unique kind of zoo is home to thousands of gators, and no
small number of alligator purses and shoes. So if you've always
wanted to see these unique creatures in action, why not see what
Gatorland has to offer?
Of course no trip to Florida would be complete without a visit
to the many beaches that line the Florida coastline, and the
central part of the state certainly has a number of wonderful
waterways and shining beaches. One of the most famous of these
beaches, of course, is Daytona Beach, well known of course for
the Daytona 500 but a great vacation destination even when the
race cars are not making their way around the track. Daytona
Beach is a fabulous vacation destination any time of year, but
May can be a particularly pleasant time to visit the beaches of
Florida. In May the weather is generally warm enough to warrant
a dip in the ocean, yet not hot enough to spoil an otherwise
enjoyable day at the beach.
Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral are always popular vacation
destinations as well, especially when the Space Shuttle is due
to lift off. Even when there is no launch on the agenda, the
Kennedy Space Center is a fascinating destination and a great
place for young and old. Whether you have always wanted to be an
astronaut or just want to see how they survive the rigors of
space travel, Cape Canaveral is always worth a visit.
The Tampa and Clearwater areas are also great places to visit,
and these cities offer abundant nightlife, great food and of
course plenty of things to see and do. In addition, both Tampa
and Clearwater offer a number of great cultural opportunities,
including some great museums and theatres. And of course the
weather in these cities is always a big draw for visitors from
around the world.
As you can see, there are many reasons why central Florida is
consistently one of the most popular tourist destinations for
visitors from across the country and around the world. Central
Florida has something to offer to every visitor, from the
youngest to the oldest, and something for every personality.
Whether you want to enjoy an unforgettable adventure or just
lounge on the beach, Central Florida is for you, and May is a
great time to visit this fabulous part of the world.
